LAHORE: Funeral prayers for Pakistan Army officer Major Ishaq, who embraced martyrdom during an anti-terror operation has been offered in Lahore, Geo News reported on Thursday.
The funeral prayers were offered at the Ayub Stadium.
The funeral was attended by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique, Lahore Corps Commander Lt. General Amir Riaz and other civil and military officials .
Major Ishaq, 27, a resident of Khushab district, lost his life during an exchange of fire with terrorists in Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa , the military said on Wednesday.
The ISPR said 28 years old Major Ishaq, a resident of Khushab district of Punjab, has left behind a widow and a year old son.
On Wednesday his funeral was attended by Chief of the Army Staff and other officials, according to the military.
Commenting on the martyrdom of the officer, military spokesman Major General Asif Ghafoor had tweeted "the price we are paying in love for our motherland. Your sacrifices shall neither go in vain nor shall these be compromised."
