RAWALPINDI: A senior army official has embraced martyrdom in exchange of fire with terrorists in Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa , the military said on Wednesday.
The exchange of fire took place in Kulachi area of DI Khan during a search operation, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the army.
The ISPR said 28 years old Major Ishaq, a resident of Khushab district of Punjab, has left behind a widow and a year old son.
His funeral was attended by Chief of the Army Staff and other officials, according to the statement.
Paying price for motherland
DG, ISPR further tweeted, "the price we are paying in love for our motherland. Your sacrifices shall neither go in vain nor shall these be compromised."
PM offers condolence
Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi expressed his condolence over the loss of life of Major Ishaq.
He prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and for the courage of bereaved family to bear this loss with fortitude.
The Prime Minister lauded the sacrifices of the security forces for the defense and security of the country.
