MULTAN: At least 10 militants of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed in an operation in Dera Ghazi Khan tribal area on Friday, security officials told The News.
During the exchange of fire, four Punjab Rangers personnel also embraced martyrdom while the injured personnel were shifted to Multan CMH, the ISPR said.
The Rangers, intelligence agencies and the Punjab CTD undertook a joint operation against terrorists affiliated with the banned TTP and their facilitators/ hardened criminals holed up in a hideout in Basti Dadwani near Choti Zerin, 15 Km South of DG Khan early morning on Friday.
The militants killed in the operation include Muhammad Asghar Dadwani alias Ustad Gorchani and Muhammad Naeem alias Waqas Dadwani).
The intelligence sources confided that Asghar Dadwani was associated with Lashkar-e-Jhangvi Iqbal Bali group, which was involved in various subversive activities including DI Khan suicide bombing.
Three soldiers (Havaldar Asif, Sepoy Aftab and Sepoy Azizullah) of Pakistan Rangers embraced martyrdom, and soldiers who sustained injuries were evacuated to CMH Multan by Army helicopter.
The operation is still continuing to flush the area of terrorists who were involved in heinous crimes, ransom and terrorist activities.
