KARACHI: Thousands attended the funeral of singer-turned-evangelist Junaid Jamshed, who was killed in an air crash on Dec. 7, 2016.
Arrangements and preparations were underway since the start of day for Junaid Jamshed's funeral prayers, which were offered today in the city's AKD Ground.
According to details, a heavy contingent of police and Rangers personnel were stationed at the AKD Ground in Defence. A Bomb Disposal squad also searched the venue to detect any explosives. Sniffer dogs were also used to check the place for any explosive material or bomb devices.
Funeral prayers of Jamshed were offered by his close companion Maulana Tariq Jameel. Maulana Tariq Jamil delivered a brief sermon before leading the assembly into the funeral prayer. Junaid Jamshed was laid to rest at the Dar-ul-Uloom graveyard in Karachi's Korangi area.
Junaid Jamshed's body was handed over to his brother Humayun Jamshed on Wednesday. A large number of people are expected to attend the funeral prayers of the singer-turned-evangelist, who was killed in the tragic PK-661 air crash along with his wife. 47 other passengers died in the fatal plane crash which took place on Dec. 7, 2016.
Junaid Jamshed had been on a preaching tour to Chitral and was on his way back to Islamabad when the flight crashed at Havelian.
