TAXILA: PTI suffered another defeat at the hands of PML-N in the Taxila by-elections when ruling party PML-N's Omar Farooq won PP-7 by-election according to unofficial results, on Monday.
According to unofficial and unconfirmed results from Taxila, Rawalpindi's PP-7 electoral contest, PML-N's Omar Farooq vanquished PTI's Ammar Siddiq. The PML-N candidate polled in 46,800 votes while PTI's candidate secured 39,655 votes. Polling initiated at 8 am and continued till 5 pm in the evening, without interruption.
The battle for PP-7 was fought between PML-N's Malik Omar Farooq, PTI's Ammar Siddiq and PPP's Chaudhry Imran as well as two other independent candidates. The security situation of the constituency was monitored by Rangers and Army personnel. According to DRO Abid Hussain, no reports pertaining to any disturbance during the voting process were received.
After the votes were counted, the results and materials were transported to the Election Commission office under the watchful eye of Rangers and Army personnel.
A couple of days ago, PTI had lost NA-162 by-election to PML-N.
