LONDON/KARACHI: MQM founder Altaf Hussain handed over charge to his close confidant and veteran politician Nadeem Nusrat. Nusrat has been tasked to form a new political party by Hussain.
Sources disclosed that MQM founder and former party chief Altaf Hussain gave charge to Convenor of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) and the party's Head of International Affairs, Nadeem Nusrat, to form a new party. Sources revealed that Nusrat will also take over the affairs of MQM-London and be responsible for setting up the new party's infrastructure in Pakistan.
Mustafa Azizabadi and Wasay Jalil have become Nadeem Nusrat's close confidants and advisers. Sources also revealed that MQM founder Altaf Hussain does not take any decision without consulting Nusrat first.
Differences arose within MQM after party founder Altaf Hussain's infamous August 22 speech, in which he openly spoke out against Pakistan and used derogatory words against the country. The speech incited workers of MQM to attack ARY News' office, as one person was killed during the chaos.
Following the incident, Farooq Sattar took over the party in Pakistan and named it as MQM Pakistan, dissociating it from Altaf Hussain. A couple of days ago, Sindh lawmakers adopted a resolution unanimously, which called for action against Altaf Hussain for his August 22 speech.
