KARACHI: Senior MQM leader Faisal Sabzwari said on Wednesday that he would return to Pakistan this week, after being out of the country for several months.
Speaking at Geo News' program 'Aaj Shahzeb khanzada Kay Sath', Sabzwari said that MQM founder Altaf Hussain's statements disappointed him. Sabzwari said that he would return to the country this week and that he had not informed senior MQM leader Farooq Sattar regarding his arrival.
"I was, still am and will remain in Muttahida Quami Movement," he said, in response to the question of whether he was still an active member of the party.
Regarding why he left the country, Faisal Sabzwari said that he had chosen to go abroad owing to security reasons. He disclosed that reliable sources had informed him and Khawaja Izhar that their lives were in danger.
"I had been told directly that there was danger to my life hence I had left the country," he said.
Faisal Sabzwari said that he had addressed APMSO and MQM events and that there was no pressure on him from any quarter to join any political party. He expressed faith in the leadership of Dr Farooq Sattar and said that even before when the party headquarter Nine Zero was raided, MQM had still gone on to win the elections of NA-246.
"I am not in contact with Mustafa Kamal. Neither was I aware of his exit and neither his entry back into the country," he said. Sabzwari also denied any knowledge of the presence of any military wing in MQM.
Sabzwari said that before MQM was created, his nation had their own identity. He apologized to the voters of his constituency for leaving the country and said that he had neglected them by leaving the country.
"If elders continue to make statements for which we have to apologise later on, it causes pain," he said.
Faisal Sabzwari said that MQM chief Altaf Hussain had been angered by his Pakistan Zindabad tweet and had labeled him as an agent of the army.
"Considering MQM the problem will not solve anything; rather MQM should be considered as part of the solution to the problem," he said.
