JHELUM: The SHO investigating the killing of British-Pakistani Samia Shahid was arrested for taking bribe and backing suspects in the murder case.
An investigation committee formed by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, which was headed by DIG Khuda Bakhsh Abu Bakar, came to the conclusion that the SHO of Mangla police station received bribes from the suspects in the Samia Shahid case and was backing them as well.
DIG Lahore issued orders for SHO of Manlga police station, Malik Aqeel Abbas, to be arrested. The FIR against the SHO was also filed in the same police station. Mangla police disclosed that the SHO was shifted to an undisclosed location for further questioning and interrogation.
Samia Shahid was murdered allegedly by her father and first husband on July 20 in Jhelum's Pandori area. The British citizen of Pakistani origin had come to visit her relatives in Jhelum, when she was killed. Her family had at first claimed that Samia had passed away as a result of a heart attack.
However, her second husband had claimed that she had been murdered by her relatives, who did not approve of her marriage with him.
