KARACHI: The Directorate of Inspection of Private Schools has advised all the private schools to increase the security measures in Karachi.
Director General DIPS has issued a 16 point mandatory security guideline to the management of all the private schools on Saturday.
The private schools are advised to keep and maintain a record of all visitors, making sure every employee displays his or her identity card visibly, keep and maintain record of all visitors strictly, hiring of general staff, watchmen to be done only after police verification of the individual, raising the boundary wall of the institution by up to 10-feet, securing the water supply and food items being sold in the school canteens in order to make sure no foreign harmful elements are introduced in the food items.
The school administrations have been notified to display the numbers of CPLC, Police helpline, Rangers, Fire department on the notice board and making sure the administration knows the names and addresses of nearby hospitals in case of an emergency.
All school administrations must furnish complete information regarding the number of students, the number of teachers and non-teaching staff to the relevant Police stations. Installing a walkthrough gate, turnstile and bio-metric verification and CCTV cameras on school premises. Parking of vehicles around the school premises should not be allowed.
Students and staff should be made to practice emergency drills and weapons training should be arranged from Police and Rangers.
Lastly the guideline has advised activating the parents-teachers association as well.
