ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Sunday hoisted the national flag here at the Jinnah Convention Centre at an impressive event marking the Independence Day.
Both the leaders attired in black sherwanis unfurled the green and white national flag at 9 am sharp coinciding with similar events across the country.
Earlier all traffic came to a halt as the sirens blared at 8 58 am followed by singing of the national anthem.
The event at the Convention Centre was attended by Speaker National Assembly, Federal Ministers, Services Chiefs, Diplomats, elite of the city and children.
