LONDON: Pakistan veteran cricketer Younis Khan has completed his sixth Test double hundred during Pakistan’s first innings against England here at The Oval on Saturday.
Younis, who completed his 32nd Test hundred on second day of the fourth and final Test match, was dismissed for 218, lbw off James Andersen, during the second session on third day.
He completed his double century in style, hitting spinner Moeen Ali a towering six to equal Javed Miandad’s record of scoring the most individual double tons for Pakistan in Test cricket.
Four players from other countries also scored six Test double centuries. They were Marvan Atapattu from Sri Lanka, Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag from India, and Ricky Ponting from Australia.
However, the record of hitting the most Test double hundreds is still owned by Australia’s all-time great Sir Donald Bradman, who made 12 double hundreds, followed by Kumar Sangakkara of Sri Lanka (11), Brian lara of West Indies (9) and Wally Hammond of England (7) and Mahela Jayawardene of Sri Lanka (7).
