Rebecca Gayheart gives rare update on daughters 7 months after Eric Dane’s death

Rebecca Gayheart is sharing rare insights into her and late Eric Dane’s teenage daughter’s life seven months after the death of their father.

The Grey’s Anatomy alum passed away earlier this year after an intense battle with ALS. He was 53.

Rebecca caught up with People at Step Up’s 2026 Annual Inspiration Awards in Los Angeles and shared how her daughters, Billie, 16, and Georgia, 14, are coping after losing their dad.

“You know, we’re hanging in there,” Gayheart shared. “I think it’s definitely a challenging season, but we’re doing our best.”

“The girls are both in high school — which is also a big transition under any circumstance — so I’m just staying close to my kids,” the dotting mom noted.

And when asked what Rebecca does to get through her darkest days, the mom-of-two admitted she leans on her close ones.

“[I connect with] friends. My children. Being under the same roof with my kids and having them next to me, safe, always makes me feel better,” Rebecca shared.

She further added, “You know, there’s certain people I like to talk to get my feelings out, but really just — again — being connected to other human beings. That’s what gets me through.”

For those unaware, Rebecca and Eric reid the knot in 2004. But the duo parted ways in 2018 and filed for divorce. 

However, after Eric’s ALS diagnosis in March 2025, Eric and Gayheart withdrew their divorce filing and remained together during Eric’s final days.
