'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' inches closer to box-office history

Since 2015, Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been holding the record for the highest-grossing movie at the US/Canada box office, but now Spider-Man: Brand New Day may break it.

Currently, the fourth Spidey film has already surpassed the Star Wars film milestone as the fastest to reach $900 million in the domestic market.

However, the Tom Holland movie is still projected to make $922 million after Labour Day weekend, while The Force Awakens stands at $936 million.

It is only a matter of time; Spider-Man: Brand New Day would surpass the record.

Separately, Andrew Garfield is still standing by his view he shared more than a decade ago about Spider-man being gay.

“It was an exercise in rebellion that I felt passionate about,” he told EW.

The actor added, "But his feelings haven’t changed. I just still believe that anyone can be in that suit.”

He noted, “That’s the point of why it’s such a kind of universally beloved character, one of the greatly beloved characters in the history of fiction."

"Is it because?" It's because you see skin colour, or you don’t see gender, or you don’t see sexuality. Anyone can project themselves into that suit," Garfield concluded.
