ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will conduct proceedings of the disqualification reference filed against the Prime Minister's son-in-law Captain (r) Safdar on Tuesday.
The proceedings will be heard by a five-member bench presided over by the Chief Election Commissioner, Sardar Muhammad Raza. PTI representative Nawabzada Salahuddin has filed the reference against Captain Safdar for concealing his wife Maryam Nawaz's assets. It is stated in the reference filed that Captain Safdar deliberately concealed his wife's assets abroad.
The Election Commission had sought a written reply from Captain Safdar during the last hearing of the reference. A similar disqualification reference had been filed against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif by Pakistan Peoples Party, Pakistan Awami Tehrik and Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf. PML-N also responded in kind when it filed a reference for disqualification of PTI chairman Imran Khan and senior party leader Jahangir Tarin.
Imran Khan had termed the reference filed against him as 'blackmailing' from PML-N.
