Sam Smith is officially engaged to fashion designer Christian Cowan after about three years together.

The word got out on Tuesday as the Grammy winner, 34, confirmed the engagement in a recent New York Times interview, where they referred to Christian Cowan as their fiancé for the first time.

So, who is Christian Cowan?

Cowa, 30, is a British fashion designer recognised for bold and colorful designs. He launched his own fashion label in 2017 and has dressed many famous stars, including Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé, Cardi B and Zendaya. His designs have often made it to the red carpet and major fashion events.

Smith and Cowan were first linked in late 2022 after they appeared together at the White House. They later made their red carpet debut as a couple at the 2024 Met Gala. Since then, they have mostly kept their relationship private while making occasional public appearances together.

Their romance has also inspired Smith's music. The singer recently revealed that their upcoming album, Hazel Eyes, is named after Cowan's eye color.

Smith also said they started writing the album's opening track, Everlasting Love, the night before their first date with Cowan. It is the first love song they have written about a relationship where the feelings were returned.
