Chitral flood: 5 more dead bodies recovered

CHITRAL: Of the twenty-eight that have been killed so far in the flash floods that have wreaked havoc in the city, an additional five dead bodies were recovered. 

With the discovery of the five dead bodies, the tally of the confirmed dead due to the floods have risen to fifteen while thirteen are still unaccounted for. The flash floods resulting from torrential rains had caused the deaths of twenty-eight people of which fifteen bodies have been recovered. 

35 houses, one check-post, one mosque and numerous fields have been destroyed by the flash floods. Those whose homes have been destroyed by the floods are forced to take refuge in the open. Pakistan army has started its rescue operation to provide relief to the stranded and the affected. 

According to the ISPR, Pakistan army is providing relief to the citizens of Chitral with the help of administration and locals of the area. The affected are being provided food, tents and medical aid. Helicopters are being used to transport those who are critically wounded to hospitals. 

A medical camp has also been set up by the district administration. Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has also provided his helicopter for carrying out relief activities in the city. The government of KP has announced a compensation amount of Rs 300,000 for the relatives of those who died in the flash floods.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has issued directives for the NDMA and other institutions to speed up the relief efforts.
