‘Wicked’ star Bowen Yang reveals unbelievable detail about upcoming sequel
Bowen Yang gives one clue about ‘Wicked’ upcoming sequel
Bowen Yang caught Wicked fans’ attention by dropping a clue about the upcoming sequel, Wicked: For Good.
The 34-year-old comedian and actor hinted that the touching duet between Elphaba, played by Cynthia Erivo, and Glinda, played by Ariana Grande, is going to surpass the success of Defying Gravity, the hit track from the first movie.
“The same way that everybody expected Defying Gravity to be this big moment — but to such a degree that everyone was like, ‘Well, how can it outdo these expectations?’ — and then it did. I feel like it's going to be that same situation with the song For Good,” Yang said in conversation with People Magazine.
The Saturday Night Live star added, “It's just like, you're going to see it coming and then when it happens, you're going to be like, ‘I can't believe what I'm watching.’ It's going to subvert the already astronomical expectations.”
Yang, who plays the character of Pfanee, one of Glinda’s friends, revealed that the lyrics of the track touch upon Elphaba and Glinda’s friendship.
The Wedding Banquet actor did not unveil any further details but went on to share his excitement for reunion with his castmates for their press tour.
Looking back at the first tour, he said, “It was so big. We got so many amazing moments out of it.”
