Oscar winning music composer AR Rahman and his Saira Banu announced their separation last year.
The two parted ways after nearly being married to each other for 29 years.
The news of their split was shared by Bano’s lawyer Vandana Shah, who claimed that the couple decided to part ways due to 'significant emotional strain' in their relationship.
Earlier today, the Jai Ho composer was rushed to the hospital after being collapsed due to dehydration.
Saira released a statement wishing him a speedy recovery. Besides updating about the singer’s health, his wife also made a revelation stating that 'we are not officially divorced and are just separated'.
In an audio message, she added, “Hi everyone this is Saira Rehman here. I wish him a speedy recovery. I got the news that he had chest pain, and he had angio. By the grace of Allah he is fine now.”
Rahman’s wife clarified, “I want to tell you all that we are not officially divorced, we are still husband and wife, it’s just that we are separated.”
According to her, she was not feeling well for the last two years and didn’t want to stress out her husband.
Saira concluded the message saying, “I request all the media persons to not address me as his ex-wife… and it’s just that we are now separated, but my prayers are always with him.”
The duo tied the knot in 1995 and share three children namely Khatija, Ameen and Raheema.
