Disney's 'Snow White' remake sparks outrage among dwarf actors for THIS reason
'Snow White' dwarf actors express outrage over Disney's 'unexpected' decision
Dwarf actors have expressed outrage over Disney's decision to replace them with CGI characters in the upcoming Snow White remake.
The actors have openly criticized the American company for its decision to use CGI instead of real-life actors, suggesting they could lose their livelihood.
The 31-year-old bodybuilder and performer, Choon Tan, opened up to FEMAIL about his sudden snub from the film, discussing the film's reliance on the latest tactics.
He told the outlet, “I think Disney is trying too hard to be politically correct, but in doing so it’s damaging our careers and opportunities.”
Providing a rational reason for hiring people with dwarfism, Tan said that it gives people like them an opportunity to be cast in roles and earn a living.
“There really is nothing wrong casting someone with dwarfism as a dwarf in any given opportunity. As long as we are treated equally and with respect, we’re usually more than happy to take on any acting roles that are suitable for us.
“Plus it’s also an opportunity for young children to see someone with dwarfism, which they may have never seen before.”
This comes after Disney replaced the seven dwarves with computer-generated ‘magical creatures’ in the upcoming live-action film.
For the unversed, Snow White is slated to release in the UK on March 21.
