Shah Rukh Khan's famous dialogue in the film Pathaan didn't sit well with writer Abbas Tyrewala, who resented the thought behind its inclusion.
The action-thriller, which delivered important messages throughout the film, contained a ‘boring’ dialogue that went up against Abbas’ wish.
The dialogue was as follows, “A soldier doesn’t ask what his country can do for him; he asks what he can do for his country.”
During an exclusive interview with Lallantop Cinema, the dialogue writer explained that the iconic quote was initially delivered by the 35th President of the United States John F. Kennedy.
He told the outlet, “I was never in favour of the Kennedy line, but it was a battle I lost. I believed that there could be nothing more boring than this line.”
However, he explained that if the quote sent shockwaves through the audience, then it was worth adding, proving that writers can't always be right about perception.
Abbas further went on to add, “Some things happen that don’t belong to you, but people remember you for them.”
For the unversed, the film also included stars Deepika Padukone, John Abraham in lead roles.
