The Goonies part two is officially underway, produced by Steven Spielberg and Chris Columbus.
According to the Entertainment Weekly, a representative from the Warner Bros Studio confirmed the news on February 14th.
The script is written by Potsy Ponciroli and Columbus, who originally wrote film and went on to film the fist two parts of Harry Potter and Home Alone movies, is producing the film.
Meanwhile, Spielberg, who wrote also wrote the story and was the executive producer for the original film, is also producing alongside Kristie Macosko Krieger and Holly Bario.
Lauren Shuler Donner, wife of the first instalment's director, late Richard Donner, is the executive producer of the upcoming film.

The story follows a group of Oregonian kids who raced against the menacing Fratelli family to find pirate treasure and save their houses from foreclosure.
