Locksmith gets locked out of van by pet bulldog

A locksmith had to turn to social media for help after his dogs locked him out of his own van, with his tools and key trapped inside the vehicle. 

Earlier in January, Peter Macann was on his way to help a customer when he stopped at a service station to fill air in his tyres, according to BBC. 

Macann, who has not been a locksmith for a long period, said that one of his French bulldogs inside the van stood on the central locking button and locked him out with the only set of keys left in the ignition. 

The locksmith had finally gotten access to his vehicle more than an hour later when one of his dogs stood on the button and locked him out once again, saying that the animals were "completely unbothered by the incident".

"I'm a 24-hour locksmith so I had a job at about 21:00, and I went to put air in the tyres, went to pay for it, got back and I just couldn't get in," he said.

"I didn't want to call another locksmith or tell my customer I had locked myself out of my van,” he added.

"I'm actually a locksmith but all of my tools are inside the car," he wrote. "Oh the irony."

Macann, who found humour in the situation, said his search for help remained unsuccessful but in the end, his dogs Bella and Vinnie, stood on the button again and unlocked the car.

He said he was "too embarrassed" to inform the customer of the reason behind his tardiness and just told them that he "got caught in traffic".

Macann’s dogs often travel with him in the car with a harness but he vowed to be "extra vigilant" that they were buckled in and he also pledged to carry a second set of keys on him.
