King Charles takes important step to honour Prince William

Prince William was honoured by his father King Charles as the Palace speeded up their efforts to prepare him for the throne amid the monarch's cancer journey.

The King seemingly broke a strict royal protocol for his son and daughter-in-law Princess Kate.

For the unversed, William was expected to attend the funeral of Jimmy Carter, a well-known US president but his uncle Prince Edward made it to the key event.

The memorial ceremony took place on the same day Princess Catherine celebrated her 43rd birthday after her cancer battle.

King Charles provided relief to William so he stayed with his wife on her special day after a brutal year.

Alongside a black and white portrait of Princess Kate, the future King penned a personal note, "To the most incredible wife and mother. The strength you've shown over the last year has been remarkable. George, Charlotte, Louis and I are so proud of you. Happy Birthday, Catherine. We love you. W."

Speaking of the King's important decision, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told GB that the King did not think about royal rules.

He shared, "You've got exceptional circumstances. I think we would have expected him to have attended because Carter was obviously a president of significance."

"This is not a time for strict protocol. It is the King who assigns who goes, and it was essential that William spent time with Kate on that special day," Richard added.
