Timothee Chalamet left no stone unturned when bringing his A Complete Unknown role to life.
In the January 20 episode of NPR’s All Things Considered, the actor, who earned an Oscar nomination for his role in Bob Dylan’s biopic, reflected on the extreme heights he had to mirror the legendary singer, including gaining weight.
“I did all the work…physically, behaviour-wise. But something we haven’t really talked about, I also put on 20 pounds,” the Dune star revealed.
The Oscars' youngest two-time Best Actor nominee explained that he was thinner than Dylan, now 83.
James Mangold, A Complete Unknown director, then chimed in weighing on, “Thinner than Bob.”
“You had to fatten up to become Bob Dylan, That’s hilarious,” host Alisa Chang added with a laugh.
The Wonka actor deemed Dylan's overall preparation process, including singing, playing guitar and harmonica, and walking and moving like the Rainy Day Women hitmaker, a “process of osmosis.”
Notably, A Complete Unknown performance earned him his second Academy Award nomination for Best Actor category.
Previously, Chalamet, 29, was nominated in the same category for his role as Elio Perlman in the film Call Me by Your Name.
