The Voice alum Ryan Whyte Maloney has passed away at the age of 44.
On Tuesday, January 28, the Clack County Coroner in Las Vegas confirmed his death to People.
The singer, who appeared in The Voice in 2014, died by shooting himself in the head. The cause of his death listed by the coroner read as a gunshot wound to the head.
Notably, one day before his suicide, the musician took over to his Instagram stories to post a video featuring himself while at a bar.
"Nine fine Irishmen for a private party tonight, and we will be rocking," he said, recording himself while flashing a rock hand gesture in the camera, per the outlet.
Before appearing in the famous singing competition, the late artist already had a well-crafted career in music, touring with the band Indulge, dropping his debut solo album Where I've Been.
His songs were heard throughout the country between 2010 and 2013 as his originals were played on country radio.
As for his The Voice journey, Maloney, who grew up playing the guitar, violin, cello, and drums, performed Lights by Journey in the blind audition, receiving a four-chair turn and eventually joining Blake Shelton’s team.
He gave a tough time to the other singers in two Battle rounds and earned himself a spot in the country star’s top 5 finalists.
On The Voice, Maloney recorded four hits: Lights, What’s Love Got to Do with It by Tina Turner, Easy by Rascal Flatts and Second Chance by Shinedown.
He also returned to perform at the season finale after elimination, marking his final performance on The Voice stage.
