From thriller to sci-fi, this new year brings some of the highly-anticipated shows as well as the return of new seasons like Severance Season 2.

Here are five amazing shows to lookout for in January 2025:

1) American Primeval

This is a gripping new limited series which will debut its premiere on January 9 on Netflix.

Set in 1857 Utah, the show explores the birth of the American West featuring Taylor Kitsch and Betty Gilpin and directed by Peter Berg.

The six-episode limited run is all about murder, rape and mayhem fill this relentlessly brutal world as well as violent men and women fighting for control of the new world.

2) The Pitt

The Pitt is an American medical drama television series which show the daily lives of healthcare professionals in a Pittsburgh hospital.

The series explores personal crisis, workplace politics and shows the resilience of these professionals in the time of emergency.

The show, which is produced by Warner Bros TV, features Noah Wyle, Tracey Ifeachor, Patrick Marron Ball Supriya Ganesh Fiona Dourif Taylor Dearden Isa Briones Gerran Howell Shabana Azeez and Katherine LaNasa.

The Pitt will premiere today (January 9) on Max.

3) Severance Season 2

Severance is making a comeback with season two.

The show’s synopsis read, “It is a dystopian series in which workers have their minds and memories 'severed' between their office and personal lives.”

The second season is also based on capitalism and society with a surreal storytelling style created by Ben Stiller.

The cast members Adam Scott, Britt Lower, Patricia Arquette and John Turturro will all be reprising their roles in the new instalment.

Other who will join the cast include Patricia Arquette, Tramell Tillman, Christopher Walken, Dichen Lachman, Jen Tullock, and Michael Chernus.

Severance Season 2 will debut globally on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes on January 17 while the remaining eight episodes will air weekly on the streamer. The finale will air on March 21.

4) Star Trek: Section 31

Star Trek: Section 31 marks the official comeback of Star Trek movies after nine years.

Directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi and written by Craig Sweeny, Star Trek: Section 31 is headlined by Academy Award-winner Michelle Yeoh, who reprises her Star Trek: Discovery role, Emperor Michelle Georgiou.

Michelle’s role will join a secret division of Starfleet which is going to protect the United Federation of Planets and also face the sins of her past.

Star Trek: Section 31 will make its debut on January 27 on Paramount+

5) On Call

On Call is an eight-episode American procedural drama television series created by Tim Walsh and Elliot Wolf.

The story follows two police officers on patrol in Long Beach, California as they respond to a new radio call and try to resolve the issues.

Starring Troian Bellisario, Brandon Larracuente, Eriq LaSalle and Lori Loughlin, On Call has premiered today (January 9) on Prime Video.
