Super Bowl 2025, one of the most popular events for football fans, has been making headlines following the New Year’s attack in New Orleans.
The truck attack, which resulted in the death of at least 10 people and 14 injured, stirred safety fears among NFL fans.
The sporting event will be held on February 9 at the iconic Caesars Superdome, which is home to the New Orleans Saints.
The Superdome will host the game for the eighth time as the first three Super Bowls played in New Orleans were held at Tulane Stadium.
On January 1, NFL issued a statement assuring that Super Bowl LIX on February 9 will be secured at the Caesars Superdome.
It read, “The NFL and the local host committee have been working in collaboration with local, state and the federal agencies over the past two years and have developed comprehensive security plans.”
“These planning sessions will continue as they do with all major NFL events and we are confident that attendees will have a safe and enjoyable experience at the Super Bowl,” wrote the league in a statement.
The event will be televised by Fox in the United States, as well as on Fox Deportes and Telemundo, with Spanish-language commentary, per the outlet.
Many artists such as Michael Jackson, Prince, U2, Paul McCartney, Black Eyed Peas, Madonna, Beyonce. Rihanna, and more performed at the Halftime Show in previous years.
However, for the 59th edition, Kendrick Lamar will headline the show, marking a major milestone for both the musician and the NFL.
It is reported that he will also reveal a guest artist as a surprise during his performance.
In September 2024, Kendrick shared his excitement in a statement via Instagram.
“Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one,” wrote the musician.
Other performers who are going to perform at the Super Bowl include SZA, Baby Keem, Dr. Dre or Snoop Dogg.
This year, the winners of the 2025 Super Bowl will receive $171 as a prize. The winner will also receive a silver trophy. The team to look out for this season is Kansas City Chiefs, which is led by Patrick Mahomes.
