'Squid Game' director, writer and executive producer Hwang Dong-hyuk opens up about season 3 release date
Squid Game season 3 teaser unveiled a new innocent-looking deadly character, adding another layer of intrigue to the upcoming season.
Shortly after the much-anticipated second season of the Korean thriller was released last Thursday, Netflix dropped the first teaser of season 3 on New Year’s Day.
"Everyone say hi to Chul-su [waving hand] Squid Game 3 coming 2025," they captioned the brief clip featuring a creepy new character.
The 16-second clip opens with three new players in their tracksuits stepping into an arena where the giant Red Light, Green Light doll Young-hee’s back is shown.
Her face was then featured on the screen at a railroad crossing, where a baby doll is revealed on the other side of the tracks, looking back at her.
The latest annpuncement comes after Squid Game‘s highly anticipated second season, which consists of seven episodes, hit the stream on December 26. In its first three days on the streamer, it received 68M views.
As fans couldn’t get enough of season 2, Netflix made sure to grace them with a third instalment.
Squid Game Season 3 release date
Squid Game season 3 is scheduled to release in 2025. No specific release date has been announced yet, but the series director, writer and executive producer Hwang Dong-hyuk opened up about the release date.
"After season 2 launches, I believe we will be announcing the launch date for season 3 soon. I probably expect that to launch around summer or fall next year,” he told Variety.
