Wicked marked its last feat of the year 2024.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the musical earned a whopping $5 million in the lucrative holiday week, making it the highest-grossing week in Broadway history.
The Broadway musical achieved record-breaking total revenue over nine shows in one week, a deviation from the usual eight-show schedule.
Given its strong commercial appeal, the musical earned $2 million more than the previous week, with an average ticket price of $290.61.
Wicked proved to be one of Broadway's top earners, but its recent skyrocketing popularity is attributed to the hype surrounding the upcoming Wicked film adaptation.
In addition, the week between Christmas and New Year’s is traditionally a lucrative time for Broadway shows, as holiday audiences flock to the theatres, further contributing to Wicked's impressive earnings.
As Wicked continued to break records, Ariana Grande took to her Instagram to thank fans for their love and support.
"A year full of art and heart!" she captioned a carousel. "Thank you eternally for your love and support; words truly don’t suffice."
"I love you always and am wishing you all a very happy new year!" the 7 Rings hitmaker and former Disney star added.
Although Grande shared photos of her shoot for The Boy Is Mine, in which she dresses as Catwoman, the snapshot in the montage of pictures and videos was predominantly focused on Wicked.
