Lily Allen confessed a major misunderstanding that caused years of resentment towards Elton John.
In a throwback video shared on Instagram, the 39-year-old singer shared she was once close friends with the 77-year-old music legend, during the years he managed and mentored her.
Their close bond and working relationship eventually came to an end, leaving the Smile singer’s personal life to spiral soon after.
She once wrote to the Rocketman hit-maker expressing her feelings of loss and vulnerability about her struggle with sobriety.
Speaking on her podcast Miss Me? she revealed that she had begun to resent Elton for years after he didn’t respond to her heartfelt letter, stating, "I thought it was mean of him actually."
However, years after moving to America, Lily came across the unsent letter, realising she had never actually mailed it to him.
"When I moved here to America, I was unpacking and I found the letter," she told her co-host and best friend Miquita Oliver.
"I never sent it," she revealed, laughing over the situation.
"Elton if you're listening, which you're probably not, I love you and I no longer harbour that resentment towards you."
