Abigail Breslin came forward too, just after Blake Lively's lawsuit against Justin Baldoni.

The actress opened up about the backlash women face when speaking out against sexism and injustice in Hollywood.

In an emotional post shared on Instagram and Tumblr, the Little Miss Sunshine actress recounted her experience with a lawsuit filed against her after addressing “unprofessional behavior” by a male co-star.

Breslin’s statement appeared to be inspired by recent allegations against Baldoni, which also prompted Kate Beckinsale to share her experiences of misogyny in the industry.

The actress reflected on being labeled “hysterical and wild” after following proper channels to report misconduct.

“I had taken all of the recommended, reasonable and appropriate measures of reporting confidentially to my union,” she wrote.

“I was told my fears were figments of my imagination.” Breslin revealed that her past experiences of domestic abuse were also used against her to discredit her claims.

While she did not name individuals or projects, Breslin’s post aligns with her involvement in the November 2023 lawsuit regarding the film Classified.

The film’s producers had sued her, claiming her allegations jeopardized its release. Breslin noted that the lawsuit was later withdrawn.

In her post, Breslin lamented the lack of progress since the #MeToo movement.

“When the smoke in the sky clears and the ashes and debris are swept away from the sidewalk, behind closed doors — to them — we are still just noisy women,” she wrote.

Breslin also criticized the double standards in society and on social media. She pointed out the tendency to defend men accused of bad behavior while disregarding women who speak out.

“It leads us to the impossible double-edged sword we face every day,” she wrote. “If we don’t speak up, we’re weak and aiding in the problem. If we do, we are over dramatic, bitchy, bossy, divas.”

The actress concluded by questioning why the burden of proof always falls on women. “Because how could a woman do anything but lie or exaggerate?”
