Security teams were dispatched to a home in South Africa after a panic alarm was triggered, only to discover that a mischievous monkey was the culprit.
Mi7 National Group, a private security firm, shared the peculiar incident on their Facebook page. According to their statement, the control room received multiple panic alarm signals from a home in Northdale the day after Christmas, as reported by UPI.
"Believing the client might be in distress, several units were immediately sent to the residence," the post explained.
Upon arriving, the security team learned from the homeowner that a monkey had entered the house and grabbed a remote control containing the panic button.
"The monkey then fled the premises, repeatedly pressing the panic button as it ran away with the remote in hand. The panic signals only ceased once the monkey moved out of range of the receiver," the company added.
In a light-hearted twist, the homeowner decided not to have the security team pursue the mischievous thief, allowing it to escape with the remote.
The company noted that the incident brought laughter to the team and reassured the client that a replacement panic button is already on its way.
