Greta Gerwig, American actress and screenwriter, have been confirmed as the director for Chronicles of Narnia, shortly before the release of Barbie.

The Bloomberg has reported that upcoming movie will hit the big screens on December, 2026.

The details about the production are kept under wraps but the Harry Potter star Jason Issac, revealed that film might be adapting The Magician’s Nephew, the first novel in the original book series.

Moreover, the exact release date and the casting members arent disclosed yet. 

Despite being produced under Netflix's banner, the ongoing discussions unveiled that the movie might get a potential theatrical release with IMAX, marking a shift from the streaming platform's usual release strategy.

According to Collider, Netflix typically releases its films in theaters only for limited runs to qualify for awards.

The upcoming movie is an adaptation of C.S. Lewis' beloved Chronicles of Narnia series, which spans seven novels set in a magical universe.

Each book presents a unique adventure that weaves into the rich history and destiny of Narnia.

Previously, the Chronicles of Narnia movies were produced by Walden Media and initially distributed with Disney. 

Disney adapted The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and Prince Caspian, However, the third film, Voyage of The Dawn Treader was distributed by 20th Century Fox.

The movie starred, Tilda Swinton, James McAvoy, Ben Barnes, Will Pouter, Skandar Keynes, Willian Mosely, Anne Popplewell and Georgie Henley.
