Ben Stiller pretends to be Tom Cruise's 'stunt double'
Tom Cruise's love makes Ben Stiller cut short his honeymoon
Tom Cruise’s love once made Ben Stiller cut short his honeymoon trip with wife Christine Taylor.
The incident occurred when Stiller was offered an opportunity to play Cruise’s body double in '2000 MTV Movie Awards'.
At the time, the Zoolander actor was on holidays with his wife. When he received an email from the producers providing him with an opportunity of a lifetime, the 59-year-old immediately jumped onto the chance without even thinking.
It all happened in 2001, when the Top Gun: Maverick star was busy promoting Mission: Impossible II and was unable to attend the MTV Awards.
Producers wanted to include Tom in the show in some capacity which is why they turned towards Ben asking him to play 'Tom Crooze' in a comedy sketch as former’s body double.
MTV producer Joel Gallen knew that the Night at the Museum actor was on his honeymoon, but he still gave it a chance and sent Stiller an email requesting him to come back early.
“I wrote Ben an e-mail: ‘I know it’s your honeymoon and everything but what if you came back two days early? What do you think”, wrote Joel.
The comedian, without having any second thoughts, returned from his vacation.
The video clip that surfaced on internet shows Ben impersonating the Jack Reacher star wearing a black matching outfit.
