Mariah Carey did what she does best.
This year marked the debut of NFL Christmas Gameday on Netflix, and Carey, often dubbed the Queen of Christmas, set the tone with a pre recorded performance of her iconic holiday classic, All I Want for Christmas Is You.
Carey’s festive rendition aired ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Pittsburgh Steelers game at 1 p.m. ET, followed by the Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans matchup at 4:30 p.m. ET.
The performance was a standout moment, adding star power to the day, which also featured Beyoncé delivering a halftime show in her hometown of Houston during the Ravens-Texans game.
On December 9, Carey’s timeless hit, All I Want for Christmas Is You, achieved a milestone by spending its 15th cumulative week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The track also reclaimed the top spot on Billboard’s Holiday 100 chart, cementing its status as a perennial favorite during the holiday season.
Carey’s NFL Christmas Gameday performance came on the heels of her successful Christmas Time holiday tour, which concluded with a snow-filled spectacle in Brooklyn earlier this week.
By combining football with festive cheer, Netflix's inaugural NFL Christmas Gameday showcased the enduring appeal of Carey’s music and the growing popularity of holiday entertainment.
