Dame Maggie Smith, who passed away in September, was recently remembered by one of her sons, Toby Stephens.
In conversation with The Telegraph, the popular actress' son made heartbreaking comments about his late mother.
The 55-year-old English actor found it upsetting to witness Maggie's struggles with a chronic illness, which had taken a devastating toll on her health.
Toby stated, "She had been ill for a while and it was very hard to see that. But she was in her 90th year, she’d had a really good innings."
"It’s been incredibly moving for my family to see how universally loved and admired she was," the Black Sails star lamented.
Speaking more about his deceased mom, Stephens shared that despite being loved worldwide the Harry Potter actress never truly accepted in her life how much she was respected and admired by the audience.
The youngest son of Maggie said, "That was something she never ¬really ¬allowed herself to believe. She was just like all of us, she didn’t have that self-confidence."
For the unversed, the actress shares two sons, Christopher Stephens and Toby, with her husband Robert Stephens.
Toby made these remarks three months after Maggie's passing.
