Tamera Mowry, who is known for her role in Sister, Sister along side her sibling Tia Mowry, has faced significant challenges, despite of her fame and the seemingly perfect lives
Tamera and Tia have been open about her experiences with racism, as once Tia shared in a 2020 interview how, at the height of Sister, Sister, they were denied the chance to appear on the cover of a popular magazine because of their race.
She recalled being told that they wouldn't sell due to their skin color, a painful experience that led her to reflect on how society can devalue people based on race.
Tamera also explained that, to be considered "worthy" of such a cover, they needed to be "triple threats," actresses, musicians, and movie stars, a standard that they felt undermined their value.
While the Mowry sisters have always been inseparable, the COVID-19 pandemic led to their first extended separation, in 2024.
Tia revealed during an interview that she and Tamera weren’t as close as they once were, sparking speculation about a rift between them.
Tia clarified that her comment was about accessibility, not the strength of their relationship, noting that while they might not be as close as before, they still share a "beautiful connection."
In early 2019, Tamera mourned the death of their beloved grandmother, Cloretha "Clo" Richardson.
The loss came just months after Tamera’s niece, Alaina Housley, tragically passed away.
Moreover, Tamera’s marriage to Adam Housley remains intact, it has not been without its own struggles.
Tamera faced harsh criticism for marrying outside her race, receiving derogatory comments from online trolls.
Additionally, her marriage has been scrutinized due to Housley’s affiliation with Fox News, which led to rumours about his racial views.
Tamera has been vocal in defending her husband, insisting that he is not racist and that their love for each other has only grown stronger in the face of adversity.
However, Tamera Mowry and Tia Mowry's lives have been filled with public successes, they have also endured personal tragedies
