KARACHI: Leaders and activists of the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) protested outside the Karachi Press Club on Wednesday for the siege outside MQM's Deputy Convener Dr Farooq Sattar's residence.
Large number of workers and activists, including women, gathered outside the Karachi Press Club and chanted slogans to denounce the Rangers' siege of Dr Farooq Sattar's house.
Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Farooq Sattar, Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan and other leaders of the MQM were also among the protesters. Protesters called for the immediate release of their innocent arrested workers.
Speaking to media personnel, Sattar said that the largest mandate of Karachi was with MQM.
"Our political independence is being curtailed," he said. "We arr being forced to protest during the month of Ramazan, when we are fasting," he added.
Farooq Sattar also said that he was not allowed to speak with DG Rangers and the Wing Commander.
MQM's Deputy Convener also said that the siege laid outside his house was to frighten them. He said that the siege outside his house and street was illegal since he had not broken any law of Pakistan.
