Princess Kate may be preparing to extend a festive olive branch to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle this Christmas, according to a former royal staffer.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who stepped down as senior royals in 2020, have been estranged from the Royal Family, with their last Christmas spent with the Firm in 2018.
Tensions between Harry and his family have remained high, especially after the brothers, Harry and William, refrained from uniting for the Diana Award this month, each separately congratulating the winners.
Rumors suggest that Harry and Meghan were not invited to join the royals at Sandringham for the holiday season, with the couple reportedly planning to spend Christmas in Montecito, California. However, these reports have yet to be confirmed.
Grant Harrold, who served as King Charles's butler from 2004 to 2011, has speculated that Kate may take the opportunity to reach out to the couple this Christmas.
There’s even talk of a potential FaceTime call, offering a glimmer of hope for a holiday reunion.
“Christmas is all about goodwill, letting bygones be bygones, and moving into the new year with a fresh start,” Harrold said.
He speculated that both Princess Kate and the Sussexes might take this opportunity to reach out to each other, with the festive season often encouraging families to put aside differences and reconnect.
“There’s something magical about Christmas that brings families back together,” he added.
