Florence Pugh slams Hollywood’s unrealistic beauty standards in iconic way
Florence Pugh refuses to adhere to Hollywood's beauty stereotypes
Florence Pugh spoke out against Hollywood’s obsession with her appearance.
The 28-year-old star expressed her frustration with traditional beauty standards, admitting she finds conventional beauty to be inauthentic onscreen.
She further shared that she wants to feel seen and represented, and she hopes the industry becomes more diverse by moving away from traditional standards
In an interview with The Times, the We Live in Time actress admitted she finds it challenging to fit into the roles offered to her, blaming her "gobby" nature.
Florence disclosed that being so outspoken in her career has often led her to being labeled as a diva, and has created an assumption that she’s difficult to work with.
"There are fine lines women have to stay within, otherwise they are called a diva, demanding, problematic,” the actress stated.
"I don't want to fit into stereotypes made by others."
She explained that during her 10-year-career, she has dealt with body-shamers, and online trolls.
However, now she is determined to take a stand against it.
"The only thing people want to talk about is some useless c**p about how they look. And so I didn't care to abide by those rules," the English actor told the magazine.
She revealed that her aim was to push back against the conventional idea of how women are perceived by making room for more diverse and realistic representation.
