Jamie Lee Curtis breaks silence on why it was important to wait 22 years for the iconic movie’s sequel.
On December 12th’s episode of Today, the 66-year-old film star discussed the two decades long wait for the Freaky Friday sequel while promoting The Last Showgirl and The Sticky.
"We couldn’t have made this movie until now, because Lindsay Lohan had to be old enough to have a 15-year-old kid," she highlighted.
In the film, Lindsay’s character, Anna Coleman, will take on motherhood, playing a mother to her daughter and soon to be stepdaughter.
"She has a 15-year-old, so I’m now a grandma," she said.

"It has the nostalgia of the original movie with Pink Slip and Chad Michael Murray," the actress confirmed.
The 43-year-old actor played Anna’s crush, Jake, in the 2003 classic movie.
Jamie passed a remark on the heartthrob’s appeal and stated, "Boy, do women love Chad Michael Murray!"
"And it has some new elements with it."
According to Variety, the sequel will introduce new characters played by Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Manny Jacinto.
