General Hospital left viewers in sheer shock with the unexpected death of a fan-favourite character.
In the Friday, December 13 episode, Dex Heller, portrayed by Evan Hofer, bid a farewell to the popular drama.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, the 27-year-old admitted he was "nervous" leading up to the episode, anticipating how fans would react to the sudden twist.
For those who may have missed it, Dex had been expected to recover fully days after being stabbed.
However, in a shocking turn of events, he went into cardiac arrest while being visited by his girlfriend, Josslyn (Eden McCoy), and friend, Anna Devane (Finola Hughes).
Despite his short time on the show given to his "one to three months" screen appearance, Hofer expressed deep gratitude for being a part of the iconic drama.
"Just so honoured," he shared, adding, "So my last few weeks were really just trying to soak in how much I loved playing Dex, and how much I loved all the people over at GH."
"I had such a wonderful time over the last two-and-a-half years. I just wanted to make sure I did justice to the character in those final episodes," the actor reflected.
Additionally, Hofer learned about Dex’s fate just a few weeks before filming his final scenes which deepened his appreciation for the entire experience.
