Selena Gomez’s big announcement on Wednesday caused major frenzy on the internet as well-wishers and fans reacted to the news.
Many A-lister celebrities also congratulated the Only Murders in the Building actress and her now-fiancé, Benny Blanco.
Among them was also Justin Bieber’s wife, Hailey, who liked the post. The two women have often been thrown into controversy by fans given their connection to the Peaches crooner. However, Hailey's subtle reaction seemed to have put all the rumours to bed.
Meanwhile, what surprised the internet was when social media users discovered the Baby hitmaker’s seemingly honest reaction to the news.
A user on X, formerly Twitter, shared a screenshot of Justin’s verified account tweet which read, “IM FREEEEEE!!!!!!!! WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY F***ING LIFE”
“he [Justin] literally has a child and still getting people under his comments and commenting about his ex,” one user wrote under the tweet.
Another wrote, “Hailey bieber said ‘THANK GOD WE ARE FREE’”
Selena and Justin dated on and off since 2011 and finally called it quits in 2017. And the Baby hitmaker ultimately married the Rhode founder in 2018.
Despite the split between Justin and Selena, many ‘Jelena’ fans still continued posting about the ex-couple and even went as far as to “bully” Hailey and issuing death threats. At that Selena had to intervene, and make a statement telling fans to stop sending hate.
Justin’s alleged tweet appeared to a be a hit at the constant online hate and the fact that many fans are still unable to get over the former pair’s breakup.
However, it turns out that the tweet was a mere parody done by a fan account and not an actual statement by the Yummy singer.
