Jamie Foxx is being grateful to his fans after his Netflix special while reflecting on the “journey” he embarked on while getting it done.

On Monday, Dec. 9, the actor took to Instagram to share a heartfelt message with fans ahead of the release of his new Netflix comedy special, Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was….

The 56-year-old actor, musician, and comedian expressed deep gratitude for the support he received during a challenging year.

“Just want to jump on and say thank you to everybody that prayed,” Foxx wrote in the caption.

“It’s a blessing to be in the position that I’m in to be able to tell you my story in my way… I hope the jokes make you laugh and I hope the story inspires you.” He ended with, “It’s been a hell of a journey.”

The special chronicles Foxx’s harrowing medical emergency that began on April 11, 2023.

The Oscar winner confirmed he suffered a stroke caused by a “brain bleed” while filming his Netflix movie Back in Action in Atlanta.

“I went out. I don’t remember 20 days,” he revealed during the special.

Foxx also shared an emotional moment from his recovery, recalling how his daughter Anelise played guitar at his hospital bedside. He said the music helped calm his vital signs and aided his healing process.

The Ray star, who hadn’t performed stand-up in 18 years, expressed excitement about reconnecting with audiences.

“Atlanta made it feel like I ain’t lost a step,” he said in his Instagram video, acknowledging where the special was filmed. “We've been saying this: God is good all the time and all the time God is good.”

Foxx encouraged fans to tune into the special, which became available to stream on Netflix on Dec. 10.

“Get your popcorn! Let's go on this ride, let’s listen to this story, let’s laugh, cry if you need to, cuz I know I have,” he said. “But my tears now are tears of joy cuz I ain't think I was gonna be able to do this.”

The actor also reacted to his recent Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance in a Stand-Up Comedy on Television, announced on Dec. 9.

“And the Golden Globes, thank you for that!” he said with enthusiasm.
