Denise Richards is returning to reality TV, and is bringing a homely company along with herself.
The actress is stepping back into the reality TV spotlight with her upcoming series, Denise Richards and the Wild Things, which will include her daughters Sami, 20, Lola, 19, and Eloise, 13, and her husband.
Richards, 53, shares Sami and Lola with ex-husband Charlie Sheen, while Eloise, whom she adopted in 2011, rounds out the family dynamic.
“It’s a big glimpse into our family,” Richards shared with Us Weekly at The Hollywood Christmas Parade. “We’re finishing up everything. I’m excited, but I’m also like, ‘Oh my gosh, everyone’s gonna see my family.’”
Richards noted that the new show will be quite different from her previous reality series, Denise Richards: It’s Complicated, which aired from 2008 to 2009 when her children were much younger.
This time around, Eloise—who wasn’t born during the earlier series—proved to be “the easiest one to film,” according to the actress.
“I’m not perfect, and they will see I make mistakes,” Richards explained. “Our family is not perfect by any means, but hopefully they can relate to some things that our family goes through too.”
The series will also highlight Richards’ relationship with her husband, Aaron Phypers, whom she married in 2018. Fans can expect a candid look at their marriage, with Richards emphasizing the importance of nurturing their bond.
“He’s in the show more than I think he thought he was gonna be, but he likes it too,” she revealed.
“For us, we’re best friends, and I say this to other couples with children — I always say you have to have time for yourself,” Richards added.
“Don’t feel guilty. If this ain’t working, it starts at the top and s— rolls down. If [your marriage] stays strong, your family is intact. I always say, have a staycation with your husband or wife. Just keep your connection.”
Richards made it clear that her daughters had the final say about participating in the series, ensuring it was a decision they fully supported.
“There were conversations with my older daughters because I wanted to make sure that that was something that they wanted to do, because they didn’t have to be part of it,” she explained.
“It was a process, but they were on board. And I’m like, ‘Alright, let’s do it. Buckle up and enjoy the ride.’”
