King Charles makes first statement after hosting Qatar at State Banquet
King Charles and Queen Camilla host State Banquet for The Amir and Sheikha Jawaher of the State of Qatar
King Charles’ office on Tuesday shared a rare glimpse of King Charles and Queen Camilla hosting their honourable guests at the Buckingham Palace during the glitzy State Banquet.
After the banquet, the monarch issued a message about the event, highlighting the significant of the engagement, while unveiling official portraits from the evening.
“Tonight, The King and Queen hosted a State Banquet for The Amir and Sheikha Jawaher of the State of Qatar, and approximately 150 guests in the Ballroom at Buckingham Palace,” the statement read alongside the portraits.
“Guests are usually invited based on their cultural, diplomatic or economic links to the country being hosted.”
Charles was accompanied by his wife, Camilla, who is still under the effects of the viral chest infection she contracted weeks ago.
Despite her health, the Queen Consort appeared in good spirits, dressed in a scarlet velvet Fiona Clare gown paired with the diamond Kokoshnik tiara. She also gave a nod to the late Queen Elizabeth as she accessorised with the diamond necklace that previously belonged to her.
Meanwhile, the monarch was dressed in a black suit as he wore his medals.
