Ralph Fiennes is all on-board on the idea of Cillian Murphy playing the Harry Potter villain, Voldermort, in the television series.
The actor, known for his chilling portrayal of Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter film franchise, has expressed his approval of Murphy stepping into the role for HBO’s upcoming television reboot of the family-fantasy hit.
During an appearance on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live, Fiennes was asked about rumors suggesting Murphy, Oppenheimer Oscar winner, being considered to play the infamous Dark Lord.
“Cillian is a fantastic actor,” Fiennes said. “That’s a wonderful suggestion. I would be all in favor of Cillian. Yeah.”
Fiennes originally debuted as Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005) and reprised the role in three additional films, Order of the Phoenix and both parts of Deathly Hallows.
In a past interview with Variety, The Menu star expressed his interest in reprising the role if given the chance, saying that there was “no question about it.”
Meanwhile, the outlet reported that HBO is eyeing Bridge of Spies star Mark Rylance to take on the role of Dumbledore in the series.
Casting details for the reboot remain limited, but fan speculations continue to swirl as the series begins to take shape.
