The Prince and Princess of Wales extended a warm royal welcome to the Emir of Qatar and Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani at their London residence today, marking the start of an important State Visit to the United Kingdom.

The royal couple later joined Their Highnesses at Horse Guards Parade for a grand ceremonial welcome, where King Charles III formally received the Qatari leaders at the Royal Pavilion.

The occasion was marked with full military honours, including a regal Royal Salute and a Guard of Honour presented by the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards.

In a hallmark of royal tradition, the King and the Emir jointly inspected the Guard of Honour, accompanied by the stirring music of the Regiment’s Band.

This visit highlights the enduring ties between the UK and Qatar, underscored by a blend of pageantry and diplomacy.

After the grand ceremonial welcome, the Emir of Qatar and Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani joined King Charles III and the Prince and Princess of Wales for a regal carriage procession along The Mall to Buckingham Palace.

Upon arrival, the distinguished guests were greeted by a second Guard of Honour formed by the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards, accompanied by the Band of the Irish Guards.

In a moving display of unity and respect, the Band performed both the Qatari and British National Anthems as the carriages approached the Palace.

Following the arrival festivities, the King hosted a private luncheon for the Qatari royals.

The day’s itinerary continued with a curated viewing in the Palace's Picture Gallery, showcasing an exclusive exhibition featuring artifacts from the Royal Collection Trust and the Turquoise Mountain Foundation.

These items highlighted the rich cultural connections between Qatar and the United Kingdom.

In the afternoon, the Emir and Sheikha Jawaher are scheduled to visit the historic Westminster Abbey.

Guided by the Dean of Westminster and the Chapter, the royal visitors will enjoy a tour of one of Britain’s most iconic landmarks, further enriching this momentous State Visit.
