Prince Andrew may or may not have earned a favour with his brother King Charles as uncertainty grows around the ongoing feud over the Royal Lodge.
Shocking claims have emerged against the monarch, despite publicly cutting off Andrew’s funds, that he may be secretly footing the expensive bills of his disgraced brother.
Insiders told Daily Mail’s Charlotte Griffiths that the King’s scheme to evict Andrew from the Royal Lodge may have been an “elaborate double bluff” but not for the sake their ‘brotherly bond’.
It is understood that King Charles and Andrew never got along as they were growing up, but Andrew was seemingly late Queen Elizabeth’s ‘favourite son’.
The report claimed that per “dinner party speculation” and “gossip”, Charles “personally cleared his errant brother’s bills for his upkeep and promised his Royal Lodge woes are taken care of, enabling him to stay there for the foreseeable future.”
However, the claims were thrashed by The Daily Beast, citing Palace insiders that there was no truth to the story. Sources also noted that Buckingham Palace does not usually comment on Andrew-related bits officially.
While there was no official clarification, it appears that Andrew’s status in the royal family will be determined on an upcoming annual royal event.
Griffiths stated that if her sources are proven correct, the dynamics between King Charles and his brother will be determined at Sandringham, during Christmas Day traditional walk on the Norfolk estate.
“If Andrew is present at the invitation of the King, we can assume that blood – blue blood, of course – is proving thicker than water.”
