Jennifer Garner was “heartbroken” after her dogs death, but her daughter being besides her helped a lot.
Garner experienced an emotional Thanksgiving this year, leaning on the support of her daughter Violet Affleck during a difficult time.
Violet, 19, returned home to Los Angeles from Yale University for the holiday break, just as the family faced the heartbreaking loss of their beloved golden retriever, Birdie. The 9-year-old dog, a cherished member of the family, passed away unexpectedly in late November.
The 13 Going on 30 actress, 52, was devastated by Birdie’s sudden death, but having Violet, one of the dog’s favorite people, back home provided comfort during the tough time.
“Jen has been heartbroken, but having Violet home from university helped,” a source told People.
Despite the loss, the family managed to enjoy a meaningful Thanksgiving together.
Garner hosted the holiday dinner at her home, joined by ex-husband Ben Affleck and their three children—Violet, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12.
“They celebrated Thanksgiving as a family,” the insider shared. “The kids love having everyone together.”
In addition to their celebration, Garner, Affleck, and their children spent time giving back to the community. The family volunteered at The Midnight Mission’s annual Thanksgiving Street Fair in Los Angeles, continuing their tradition of helping those in need.
